[National Assembly] - Lot 62
[National Assembly] Draft regulation proposed to the National Assembly by the Committee appointed for this purpose. Slnd [Paris, before July 1, 1789]. Two large bi-feuillets. A very rare annotated, completed and corrected copy of this draft for the first regulation of the first National Assembly, most likely a working document from the personal archives of a member of the Regulation Committee. According to the Archives Parlementaires, Mirabeau proposed on May 25, 1789 the appointment of commissioners for the drafting of a regulation of the Communes and of the National Assembly, a name that the deputies of the Tiers-Etat had given themselves on May 6. Numerous discussions took place until June 19, 1789, date of the creation of a committee of regulation, which regulation was subjected to validation, in its final form, from July 1. Another copy, preserved at the BNF (Fol.Le29.45 [not examined]), bears the date, absent on ours, of July 1, 1789 (http://ark.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/cb363499099, consulted on December 9, 2022). This information is found in P. Conlon, Bibliographie chronologique des ouvrages anonymes, Paris, 2007, Tome XXIV, p.60. According to a handwritten note by Dr. André Bernheim, the numerous handwritten corrections observable on the document would be in the hand of Guy-Jean-Baptiste Target (1733-1806), an important but forgotten figure of the very beginning of the Revolution: famous lawyer, deputy of the Tiers-état of Paris, one of the first presidents of the National Assembly (January 18 - February 2, 1790). "Exhibition: Carnavalet Museum, July 1939, 150th anniversary of the Revolution."
